The Chinese New year is just around the corner. This gives us a second chance to review the last year and look forward to the next one. As the year of the Monkey comes to an end, the year of the Rooster will soon be upon us. It is traditional for the boss of the business to present staff with a ‘red letter’ gift. We are no different. Next week we will provide everyone with a small token of our appreciation for the work they did last year and to give everyone something to start off the new year on the right footing. You will notice the record volumes traded on LEOxChange as the market continues to show active interest in the LEOcoin and the rewards it offers for those who hold balances. This is unique and we remind everyone that this is an opportunity you won’t get anywhere else in the digital currency community. Atif Kamran, our co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer, is a finalist in the 2017 British Muslim Awards as Businessman of the Year. Officially launched in Sweden in April, it was first announced at the Global Annual Conference in Bali. Since then the movement has grown in response to the interest shown both by LEO Members and entrepreneurs across the globe excited by the enthusiasm and support of over 200,000 LEO Members. Membership of the ECN not only means that LEOcrowd is accepted as a serious long-term player but also that our experience and the expertise of staff make LEOcrowd an authority in this marketplace. Membership allows LEOcrowd to shape the development of the crowdfunding environment. As LEOcrowd has grown both its user base and the projects it has supported, the process has been tested thoroughly by both fund raisers and project backers and this practical feedback has helped us to develop the site and the underlying IT structure and features. As interest has grown, the need to communicate the principles and benefits of crowdfunding has grown too. Now there is sufficient interest to run weekly introductory webinars in both English and Chinese. As more entrepreneurs sign up to the crowdfunding idea, monthly workshops are being held in the LEOcrowd offices in London to provide specific support so that entrepreneurs can make the most out of the LEOcrowd model – these are ‘streamed’ for those who are not close to London. In these times of uncertainty and change – the latter often causing the former - people turn to digital currency as a safety net as Dan Andersson says in his article on the HuffPost Tech news site. It has certainly been an interesting time for the global economy; but for all the doom and gloom and talk of market volatility, we should not forget that recent historic events present an opportunity that we can capitalise on. London-based Bitcoin wallet provider ‘Blockchain’ has opened its 10 millionth digital wallet, making it clear that Brexit and Trump have done little to damage the digital currency sector. In fact the new world order has had a rather positive impact on digital currencies so far. We have already seen examples of an increase in trading of digital currencies in light of failing fiat currencies; in both Greece and China individuals turned to Bitcoin, hedging against economic uncertainty in their respective countries. While global currency markets plummeted following the Brexit vote, digital currencies bucked the trend with Bitcoin soaring in value. It seemed, perhaps unsurprisingly, as if people were turning to digital currencies as a safety net. The anti-establishment tide across the world isn’t just restricted to the world of politics; it’s also sweeping away traditional fintech and allowing digital currencies to flourish. There is a sense that the old models are not working and that there is a movement towards digital currencies: as we have seen, the Bitcoin price and LEOcoin trading activity are both on the rise. Members with additional accounts have been submitting their requests to link them together. If you are one, and have not yet done so, then you need to nominate which is your main account and which of your sub-accounts you want linked to it. We require that the main account is fully KYC verified before any other accounts can be linked to it, and all sub-accounts must contain the exact name and address as the main account. If you are KYC Verified then an option to link these accounts is available in your back office. We have no choice. We must be able to demonstrate that we know who we are doing business with. We are doing everything we can to make it as easy as possible for our Members. We have had requests from Members, especially those who are getting ready for the Chinese New Year, to allow more time. We have listened and so requests for account linking can be submitted until the end of February. These requests will then be processed by Member Support during February and March. A detailed FAQ and instructions are available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at Support@WelcometoLEO.com. Let’s be clear: If you choose not to identify your sub-accounts before the end of February, the option to link accounts will be withdrawn and you will need to KYC all the accounts in the normal way. We will not entertain duplicate contact details and the linking of accounts after 28 February 2017. It is now hosted on Amazon Web Services. This means that the speed on the exchange has improved dramatically, and the speed for withdrawals has increased and you can now trade LEOcoin up to 8 decimal places. This new faster site will allow faster trading of LEOcoin and should lead to increased trading volumes. Early feedback from users has been very positive and people who use the site should notice major improvements in their experience. This upgrade is the first of a number of improvements that will be made throughout this year.
